30A 10K Donates a Record Breaking $50,000 to Local Charities in 2016

The 30A 10K road race is proud to announce a record-breaking $50,000 donation to area charities this year.

The total raised by the 30A 10K, Inc. has now surpassed $200,000 since it began four years ago.

30A 10K Breaks Record with 2016 Donation to Charities
“We are so excited to announce this year’s donation total,” said Race Director Karen Meadows. “Every year, the 30A 10K & 1 Mile Fun Run inspires thousands of runners to raise money for local charities and give back to our community. To them and all our business supporters, and volunteers we say THANK YOU!”
The 30A 10K & 1 Mile Run are held annually on Thanksgiving Day in Rosemary Beach. Each year, the race selects local charity partners to benefit from the event. The 2016 charity partners are: Anchorage Children’s Home, the Northwest Florida Guardian ad Litem Foundation, the Walton County Sheriff’s Department’s Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the South Walton Fire District. For many, the funds fill a vital hole in their budgets.

The Northwest Florida Guardian ad Litem Foundation is the second new charity to partner with the 30A 10K event this year. The Guardian ad Litem Foundation is a non-profit public charity that supports the Guardian ad Litem program – a volunteer based group that serves as court advocates on behalf of children. The foundation provides funding for basic needs for these children such as diapers, clothing and food.

“The donation the foundation received from the 30A 10K charity race will tremendously help us to continue to be a powerful and effective voice advocating for the best interests of abused, abandoned, and neglected children in the Guardian ad Litem program” says Charles E. Schuster, President, of the Northwest Florida Guardian ad Litem Foundation, Inc.  “The donation from the 30A 10K event will certainly make a difference.”

This year’s event not only reached a record-breaking fundraising total, but also a record-breaking crowd. A sold-out gathering of more than 2,000 participants plus hundreds of volunteers, spectators and sponsors joined in for three-days of family activities including a pre-race sports expo at 30Avenue and a post-race South Walton Black Friday Shopping Contest.

“The goal of the 30A 10K is to be a force for good in our community,” said co-race director Amy Stoyles.
“Whether we are helping to give back to charities or encouraging families to get active and healthy, it’s a fantastic event for everyone.”

This year, the race would like to say a special thank you to all the participants as well as all the business sponsors, including the following platinum sponsors: Visit South Walton; Barefoot Princess and Island Clothiers in Watercolor; the Rosemary Beach Property Owners Association; 30Avenue; Coach Karen, LLC; Team Baranowski – Keller Williams Luxury Homes 30A; Archiscapes, LLC; and 30A.com
Stay tuned to the race website and Facebook page for details on next year’s event and registration’s opening date. The race directors anticipate the event will sell out even faster next year so register early! The race also will begin accepting applications for the 2017 charity partners in April.
