2013 30A 10K Beneficiaries

We are truly honored to announce the three beneficiaries for the 2013 30A Thanksgiving 10K. Last year, the 30A 10K raised and donated $18,000 to Donations 4 Danny, a charity that supports the medical needs of South Walton fireman Danny Margagliano who is a quadriplegic. For the upcoming race, we set a goal of doubling the proceeds, which will benefit three charities this year: Donations 4 Danny, Food for Thought Outreach and Lighthouse Family Retreat.

“We love our community in South Walton and it is very important to us that we support local charities that are close to our heart. These wonderful organizations are what inspire our team to work hard on hosting a world class running event on Scenic 30A”, says Karen Meadows, Race Director of the 30A 10K.

“There are few things as powerful as helping a family in need and we are so thankful for being able to receive much needed dollars from the 30A 10K to make a difference in so many families lives,” says Chris Woodruff, Executive Director of Lighthouse Family Retreat. Lighthouse Family Retreat is an organization that serves over 200 children with cancer and their families by providing 14 retreats a year on Scenic Highway 30A.

Food For Thought Outreach feeds school age children in need every week through a backpack program. By providing these children with healthy easy to prepare foods, Food for Thought Outreach strives to support the learning and development of these children and remove the stress of hunger. The organization serves hundreds of food insecure children in Walton and Okalossa County every week. “With this fundraiser, we plan to use the funds to expand our food outreach to additional schools in our community,” says Tiffanie Shelton, Founder of Food for Thought Outreach. “We are so thankful to participate in such an amazing community effort!”
